After an exhausting couple of weeks it’s hard to believe we are actually loaded up and on the road.
We were running a couple of hours late to when we wanted to leave but decided to go tonight anyway.
I write this as we are driving through the beautiful Barossa Valley and tonight we say goodbye to South Australia for awhile.
First stop will be Mildura. We will get in around 10pm ish and then be on the road very early in the morning to get to Selena’s place on the amazing NSW south coast.
Then the following day into Sydney to see Mamma Gudge for a couple of days.
Will check in again in next few days.
Hugs and sloppy kisses
So I put together a little Christmas tale below, I know it doesn’t really rhyme very well and I also know it’s the night before the night before Christmas, but at this point we are all dog tired and still have half a house to pack up with Christmas rearing its head. But I wanted to give an update on where we are 5 days out from leaving.
Dave’s Mum and Dad have been down to help for a couple of days which has been great but now the kids have finished daycare and we are one day out from christmas and OMG only days from leaving.
So here is my sleep deprived version of the next few days..
Hope Santa is good to everyone and you get to spend time with the people you love..
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Chaos and confusion were turning us into a madhouse
The stockings were thrown in the corner over there
And lost under boxes half packed with our wares
The children were hyped and still awake
While the parents sleep deprived visions were doing their heads in
Mamma in her pjs and me in my stubbies
Wish that bed would be coming some time soon
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
Dad just dropped half the luggage in the gutter
Away to the window the neighbours all fled
Tore open the shutters and told us to shut it
The moon over the horizon
Gave the lustre of hope of the adventure to come
Then my wandering mind remembered the work left to do
And all I could ask was who’s bright idea was this, surely not mine..
But in the spirit of Christmas I heard Dave give a whistle
Bring me another beer so I can get this trailer loaded.
And as he drove out of sight I heard him exclaim
Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night.
Hugs and sloppy kisses….
So sh**T is getting real…
We have 19 days until we are scheduled to leave. On the weekend we had a little farewell BBQ and it was awesome to have so many people so special to us come and have a drink and a squirt of the water pistol, despite the 40+ C day. All the kids loved being able to spend the day in paddling pools and not get in trouble for shooting water at everyone.
Of course with such a short time till we leave one child has come down ill. Marla has been struck with a virus. We will be back to the doctor tomorrow but I don’t think its anything majorly serious.
My last day at work will be Friday and then its focus focus on getting ready for Christmas and packing up the house in preparation for the big day.
I will give an update again on the preparation but expect that the next couple of weeks will be OMG frantic.
Oh and a big big big welcome to the world to our new nephew and cousin Paul Christopher Lange, born today. We can’t wait to meet you.
Hugs and sloppy kisses
